The 21st century migration to cities is well underway. The UN predicts that Urban population in Africa will surpass the Rural population by 2037. Their report also predicts World population to reach 9.7billion by 2050. More than half of the World population growth will be concentrated in nine Countries inclusive of Nigeria. Lagos is expected to be the twelfth largest city in the World by 2025. A study by Stanbic Bank also indicates Nigeria alone will add 7.6 Million Middle class households by 2030. Finally, most market research analysis suggest that global consumption of Agricultural products especially livestock will be driven by developing countries because of their greater potential to increase cultivated/production land and improve productivity to meet world population growth.
